Matt David Johnson
Matt David Johnson is an award-winning independent Canadian filmmaker and producer with a diverse background spanning multiple industries. Drawn to entertainment at a young age, he works consistently in commercial, television and stage productions until becoming host and co-producer of CTV’s The Best of BC. An avid designer, he typically engages in over forty projects throughout the year providing design and branding services for emerging businesses and restaurants. In 2014, he moved into retail store ownership with the temporary launch of his store Crow, as featured in The Georgia Straight. Matthew is certified in Business Administration, and Winner of the Lucille Fisher Award Scholarship for Outstanding Writing from Capilano University. Prior credits include Coyote Mountain (Drew Scott, The Property Brothers), Suite218.Com (Winner of the E-World Award for Best Entertainment Website).
His original short, The Dishwasher has since gone on to earn international attention, including Winner of Outstanding Drama at the ITSA Film Festival in California, Best Short Film (Special Mention) at the Best Shorts Competition, Best Short Film at the ModCon Film Festival (UK) and Nomination for Best Director at the The Short Film Awards in New York. He’s currently in development on his feature project, and a psychological thriller for series television.
Alexz Johnson is an independent Canadian singer/songwriter and Gemini-Award winning actress based both in NYC and Toronto, Canada.. Her soulful sound, passionate songwriting style, and acting success in TV and film has helped Alexz garner a massive and loyal international fan following. After declining several major label offers that didn’t well suit her authentic music path, in 2012 Alexz took to the streets and raised over $67k through Kickstarter to fund the release of her Skipping Stone EP, as well as her sold out North American tour. In 2014, Alexz’s fan base once again showed overwhelming support and raised over $56k on PledgeMusic to produce her most recent released album Let ‘Em Eat Cake produced by David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, Regina Spector) and become a winner in the International Songwriting Competition for best music video, “Ruthless Love". In 2015 Alexz composed several original songs for The Dishwasher, which has since gone on to win many international awards, including a Nomination for Best Score from the Kerry International Film Festival in the Republic of Ireland. Alexz continues to work independently in both music and film, holding true to her sound and vision as an artist. She is in the midsts of working on her newest album with Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris) with plans of releasing in the spring of 2017.
